Shahdol: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a dig at the Congress and other “family-centric” political parties on Saturday, accusing them of giving false assurances to the public and highlighting the lack of unity among them. His comments come amid efforts to form an anti-BJP coalition.
Speaking at the launch of the National Sickle Cell Anemia Eradication Mission 2047 in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Modi also targeted dynastic parties, stating that they primarily work for the benefit of their own families. He pointed out that individuals facing corruption charges and those convicted of scams were joining forces within these parties.
The Prime Minister’s criticism of the opposition parties followed the unveiling of a portal and guideline for the management of sickle cell anemia, as well as the distribution of over 3 crore digital Ayushman cards nationwide and 1 crore PVC Ayushman Bharat cards in Madhya Pradesh.
Addressing the crowd, Prime Minister Modi urged caution regarding the promises made by family-centric parties, including the Congress. He warned against hidden deception and games disguised as false guarantees. Referring to recent meetings of anti-BJP parties, he noted that despite their claims of unity, old rivalries among these parties continued to surface, indicating a lack of trust and solidarity.
Whenever opposition parties guarantee free power, the Prime Minister asserted that it often results in increased tariffs, while promises of free travel can lead to deteriorating transportation infrastructure. Similarly, pledges of pension may signify delayed or insufficient salaries for employees, and guarantees of cheaper petrol could indicate plans for increased taxes.
According to the Prime Minister, opposition parties’ promises of job creation often come at the cost of damaging industries and businesses. He cautioned that the guarantees provided by parties like the Congress reflect flawed intentions and harm the interests of the poor.
In contrast, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the initiatives undertaken by his government. He emphasized the BJP’s guarantee of free ration to over 80 crore people through the PM Gareeb Kalyan Yojana and the guarantee of free medical treatment for 50 crore beneficiaries under Ayushman Yojana. The Ujjawala scheme guarantees smoke-free cooking for 10 crore women, while Mudra Yojana has provided self-employment loans to 8 crore beneficiaries.
The Prime Minister stressed that these dynastic parties lack the ability to ensure corruption-free governance and a terror-free India. He urged the public to be wary of false guarantees and cautioned against aligning with individuals holding anti-national views.
Prime Minister Modi concluded by emphasizing the BJP’s commitment to improving the welfare of the tribal communities. He announced the celebration of Rani Durgavati’s 500th birth anniversary at the national level, including the release of a commemorative coin and postal stamp. He praised his government’s efforts to address diseases like tuberculosis, Kala Azar, leprosy, and malaria, which have seen significant reductions in cases.
