Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray narrowly escaped an accident with a slab of a large chandelier at the Sahyadri Guest House here on Friday evening. The incident took place when Thackeray was busy holding a series of meetings with top officials in hall number 4 of the posh state guest house.
Shortly before 5 pm, a deafening sound was heard when a huge chandelier installed on a slab outside their meeting hall fell, triggering alarm among security personnel. The sound of the accident caused some panic among the people but no casualty was reported in the incident.
Soon after the incident, teams from the PWD department began surveying the entire guest house there and other prominent places to check and audit any possible future hazards.
An official said that due to several COVID-19 cases being reported in Mantralaya during the last 15 months, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and most of the other ministers prefer to hold their official meetings at the Sahyadri Guest House or some other government places.
