“Difficult to compete with BJP in digital rally” Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow, Jan 8 (News Galiyara) Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said on the announcement of election dates by the Election Commission that if the Election Commission leans in favor of a virtual campaign for political parties in the 2022 UP assembly elections, If so, the Commission should make it a level playing field for all political parties. Akhilesh Yadav, at a press conference in Lucknow, hours before the Election Commission announced the election schedule in New Delhi, said, “The Election Commission should give some funds to political parties so that they (political parties) can create a step-up infrastructure Because we cannot compete with BJP’s infrastructure. That’s why we appeal that the election commission should get some funds from the government to the political parties so that in the democratic system all the political parties who do not have a strong structure like BJP in digital rally are able to compete.

Akhilesh Yadav’s request to the Election Commission came in response to a question on the SP’s preparedness to run a digital campaign. Talking to reporters after the announcement of election schedule, Akhilesh Yadav said that BJP is more active on virtual medium as his government is in power and he is getting space on all media and national channels. SP is far behind BJP in this matter. Keeping in mind the growing Corona crisis, the Election Commission has asked political parties to campaign through virtual rally. On this, SP chief and former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has demanded from the Election Commission that regional political parties should be given funds and they should get equal rights so that they are able to hold virtual rally and give competition to BJP. Akhilesh Yadav also announced that the Samajwadi Party will repeat its free laptop scheme of 2012 manifesto if the Samajwadi Party returns to power in 2022.

Akhilesh said, “This will be the second promise after the first promise of providing free 300 units of electricity to all domestic consumers and free electricity for irrigation to farmers. As the SP government did in its previous government… in 2022 if the party forms the government, it will again give laptops to youth and students for higher studies. Earlier, we had given lakhs of laptops so that many beneficiaries could become self-employed.” Akhilesh Yadav has already given 300 units of free electricity to domestic consumers and free electricity to farmers for irrigation, caste census in the state, Rs 25 lakh to families of farmers killed in farmers’ agitation, Rs 5 lakh to farmers who died in road accidents. The cyclists have been promised ₹5 lakh for those killed in the bull attack.
